Thanks for this Michelle, genuinely. I hear you and while I have spent time both in such places and researching the history of these ways of being and thinking (which I would argue goes back as far as humanity), and am aware of the arrogance of framing them as a grand new invention in a narrative of progress, I know I haven’t got this right yet. By way of explanation if not of excuse, what I am trying to do is to find a way to speak into the existing power in such a way as to create openings and enable cohesion, as you put it. It’s not always easy to get the balance right between speaking deep truth and inviting people in, especially people who have done better out of the existing system (as indeed I have), and I often fail. Your comment calls me to work harder. I hope you’ll keep challenging and that this isn’t the end of the conversation.
